Get Your Smile Back with a Crown
Dr. Justin Anderson takes a careful, thoughtful approach, using modern technology to deliver results you can trust without unnecessary appointments or guesswork.

What Is a Dental Crown?
A dental crown is a custom-made cover that fits over a tooth to restore strength, shape, and comfort. It protects the tooth from further damage while allowing you to chew, speak, and smile normally again.
Crowns are often recommended when a tooth is cracked, weakened by decay, heavily filled, or needs extra support after a root canal. The goal is to save your natural tooth whenever possible and help it last longer.
How Crowns Help You Day to Day
Crowns reinforce teeth that can no longer handle normal chewing on their own. By covering and stabilizing the tooth, a crown reduces sensitivity, improves comfort, and lowers the risk of future breakage.
They can also improve appearance by correcting discoloration, uneven shape, or visible damage. When designed properly, a crown looks and feels like a natural part of your smile.

Natural-Looking, Long-Lasting Results
Modern crowns are designed to blend seamlessly with your natural teeth. We carefully match the color, shape, and fit so your crown doesn’t stand out or feel bulky.
With good home care and regular checkups, most crowns last many years. More importantly, they help protect the underlying tooth and reduce the chance of more complex treatment later.

When a Crown May Be Recommended
You may benefit from a dental crown if you have:
- A cracked or fractured tooth
- A tooth weakened by decay or a large filling
- A tooth that has had root canal treatment
- Ongoing sensitivity when chewing
- Cosmetic concerns that cannot be corrected with simpler options
Dr. Anderson will always explain why a crown is recommended and discuss alternatives when they exist.

What the Crown Process Feels Like
Your visit starts with a careful exam and digital imaging so we understand exactly what your tooth needs. We explain the findings clearly and review your options before moving forward.
If a crown is placed, the area is numbed for comfort, the tooth is prepared gently, and digital scans are taken—no messy impressions. For same-day crowns, your permanent crown is placed during that visit. For traditional crowns, a temporary crown protects your tooth until the final one is ready.

One-Visit Crowns with CEREC®
When appropriate, we offer CEREC same-day crowns, which allow your crown to be designed, made, and placed in a single visit.
What this means for you:
- Fewer appointments
- No temporary crown
- No waiting weeks for a lab
- A strong, natural-looking ceramic restoration
Your crown is custom-milled in our office while you relax, so you leave the same day with your permanent crown in place.

Frequently Asked Questions
What if I’m nervous about dental treatment?
You’re not alone. We explain each step, move at your pace, and offer options like laughing gas to help you feel relaxed and in control during your visit.
Are crowns covered by dental insurance?
Many dental insurance plans help cover crowns when they’re needed for health and function. Our team will review your benefits and provide a clear cost estimate before treatment begins.
Are there alternatives to dental crowns?
Sometimes, yes. Depending on the condition of the tooth, options like fillings or onlays may be appropriate. Dr. Anderson will walk you through all suitable choices so you can decide what feels right for you.
Can I eat normally with a crown?
Once your crown is placed, you can chew and eat normally. We recommend avoiding chewing ice or very hard objects to protect both the crown and your natural teeth.
Will my crown look natural?
Yes. Crowns are custom-made to match the color, shape, and size of your natural teeth. Most people won’t be able to tell which tooth has a crown.
How long do dental crowns last?
With good brushing, flossing, and regular checkups, crowns can last many years. Protecting your teeth from grinding and avoiding very hard foods also helps extend their lifespan.
What is a same-day crown?
A same-day crown is designed, made, and placed during one appointment using Glidewell's Fastmill unit with a MEDIT scanner technology. This means no temporary crown and no waiting weeks for a lab to finish your restoration.
Does getting a dental crown hurt?
No. The area is fully numbed so you stay comfortable during the procedure, and most patients say it’s easier than they expected.
How long does it take to get a crown?
With Glidewell's Fastmill unit with a MEDIT scanner, your permanent crown can often be completed in a single visit. In some cases, a traditional crown may require two appointments.
How do I know if I need a dental crown?
A crown may be recommended if a tooth is cracked, weakened by decay, has a large filling, or needs protection after a root canal. Dr. Anderson will explain what he sees and review your options before recommending any treatment.
